Goodness gracious great balls of fire !![]() On the 23rd May 25 teams lines up for the 2019 Construction Industry Charity Pro-Am sponsored by JSP and Heathrow. The weather was set fair and the day got off to a cracking start with a terrific donation of £15,358 by Mark Johnstone CEO of JSP. The Foxhills Longcross course was looking particularly wonderful in the sun after hosting the PGA Seniors Event the previous week and after a hearty breakfast the teams set off for a shotgun start at 12:00. ![]() Things really did hot up when we had to suspend play for 30 mins for the fire brigade to attend to a heath fire that ran a little too close for comfort at the 8th Hole. A decision was made to avoid this hole so we ran the competition over 17 holes. There was several twist and turns through out the day as teams jostled for the lead but in the end DPC overcame all opposition to claim this years trophy. You can view the full leader board here … Leaderboard (note the leader board rotates between team and PGA Professionals every 10 or so seconds) ![]() The PGA Professionals also had a bit of a titanic battle with Nico Els, James Ford and James Ablett all tied for first place … you can see the full leader board here… Leaderboard In the evening we had some educational entertainment from a company called AKT Productions. They used actors to demonstrate how to spot and engage people showing signs of stress and mental ill health. They were extremely engaging and hopefully all felt they had gained some insight into our industry problem. Huge thanks once again to Mark Johnstone from JSP and Tim Houghton from Heathrow who brought along many of the companies in their supply chain to make the event such a wonderful occasion.
A big shout out too to all the companies that sponsored the golf holes, the bar and brought raffle prizes. Finally a massive thanks to Sam Smith and the PGA for bringing along such terrific and engaging Professional Golfers, VPAR for their scoring technology and Laura McDonald from European Golf Challenge who managed the event and will be taking over the Lighthouse Golf Club in the future. Not only did we great networking and fun we also raised over £23,000 for our charity.. well done all! The date is already set as 21st May 2020 for next year and it will be on the Bernard Hunt Course at Foxhills. Pictures of the teams can be downloaded here…. Pictures on Facebook
The BLUE course was chosen for the competition round and after some spectacular golf the winners were announced at the legendary Berkshire Carvery Lunch.
